Date: 2020-03-20 12:52 am (UTC)Description: "This underwater camera dives into Homosassa Springs to open a window into the crystal clear Florida water where Florida’s most beloved aquatic mammal, the West Indian Manatee, swims with a jubilee of fish through crystal clear water. Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park provides a sanctuary and home to Manatees with injuries or illness so severe that they can’t survive in the wild. The park cares for these manatees until they can safely be released and provides a forever home to the few who cannot. Through this lens viewers can get up close to these gentle giants and enjoy the serene sights and sounds of the springs."

The spring run is a constant 72 degrees year-round making it a vital warm-water sanctuary for manatees in the winter time and is completely closed-off to people. Any people seen in the footage are researchers with special permits. In addition to manatees, occasionally alligators, double-crested cormorants, anhingas, great blue herons, limpkins, egrets, turtles and a variety of fish can be seen."
